THE VILLAGGIO WAY
GIANLUCA
Our co-owner Gianluca is the third generation of his family from the Villaggio group of restaurants. Inspired by his father Marc, and Nonno – Umberto’s passion for Welsh-Italian cooking, Gian originally trained and worked as a chef at the restaurant before becoming the manager of Pizzeria Villaggio Whitchurch in 2017, and co-owner of Villaggio Lakeside in October 2022.

Meet the man behind Villaggio. Inspired to bring authentic Welsh-Italian food to the local community, our co-owner Marc co-founded Pizzeria Villaggio Whitchurch with his father Umberto, back in 1986. A keen musician, Marc is also a founding member of popular local band, The Red Hot Pokers.

OUR STORY
Pizza & Pasta Perfection Since 1986
Proud to be Welsh-Italian, we’ve been part of the North Cardiff community since opening our doors back in 1986 from our Whitchurch restaurant. We opened the doors to Villaggio Lakeside on the 18th October 2022, and are proud to be part of the local community. Dedicated to bringing a taste of southern Italy to Cardiff, we are part of the Villaggio Group of restaurants, one of the oldest Pizzerias in the Welsh capital and still remain a family run business today. We have taken key members from our Whitchurch location to help us to build a fantastic team who are dedicated to creating delicious, authentic, home cooked Welsh- Italian food – as well as bringing new and exciting dishes to the menu. Our love of honest, authentic food is combined with our Italian values of creating a great family atmosphere for all, that’s why we don’t believe anyone should miss out on enjoying a meal out with family and friends.
We have a carefully selected range of dishes, made fresh to order, to suit all tastes. We offer a vegan menu, gluten-free menu, as well as vegetarian dishes all made with the finest local ingredients.
